American Depository Receipts or ADRs are financial instruments just like shares but they trade on the US exchanges and therefore they trade in US Dollars.

Indian ADRs offer investors in the US a way to purchase stocks in Indian companies and only a handful of Indian companies have ADRs listed in the US.

Traders can observe the ADRs for any hint of movement of their Indian counterpart. They may also get clues of the opening levels for these Indian players depending on their movement the previous day in the US.
